We’re excited to announce a new partnership between Hiker Trailers and Super Pacific that will bring manufacturing and installation of Super Pacific’s X1 camper to Hiker’s facility in Columbus, Indiana.
For the past several months, our teams have been working behind the scenes to establish a Midwest manufacturing and installation hub for Super Pacific. We anticipate X1 campers beginning production in Columbus this fall, giving customers throughout the Midwest and eastern United States a much easier way to purchase and install a Super Pacific camper.
But for both companies, this partnership is about more than geography.
It’s about creating more ways for more people to get outside.
Hiker Trailers have always served a particular kind of camping experience: simple, capable, comfortable, and designed to give you a home base wherever the road takes you.
A Hiker can be packed and customized for the way you travel, disconnected from your vehicle when you reach camp, and ready when it’s time for the next adventure.
Super Pacific’s X1 approaches camping differently. It transforms a pickup into a lightweight, highly capable camping platform—creating a compact and mobile setup that travels wherever the truck does.
Neither approach is meant to replace the other. That’s exactly what makes this partnership so interesting.
Some campers want to establish a basecamp and explore from there. Others want their entire camp to move with them. Some trips are perfect for a trailer, while others make more sense with a truck camper.
And sometimes, the answer might be both.
For a larger family or group, an X1-equipped truck towing a Hiker can open up significantly more sleeping and living space without stepping into a large RV. For others, having access to both platforms creates the flexibility to choose the setup that fits each trip.
There’s no single right way to camp. Together, Hiker and Super Pacific can help more people find the setup that works for the way they want to travel.
Hiker Isn’t Changing. We’re Expanding What’s Possible.
We also want to make something especially clear: Hiker Trailers isn’t going anywhere, and our focus on building great trailers isn’t changing.
Our Columbus team is still hard at work building roughly 40 Hiker Trailers every month for customers across the country—from Custom Builds designed around their owners to Ready-Built trailers for customers looking to get camping sooner.
That remains the heart of what we do.
What this partnership gives us is another way to help.
Over the years, we’ve talked with plenty of people who connect with Hiker and our approach to camping, but whose needs don’t fit neatly into a trailer. Maybe towing isn’t practical. Maybe they want a more mobile setup. Maybe their family needs additional sleeping space. Or maybe they want the flexibility to choose between a trailer, a truck camper, or both.
Until now, some of those conversations ended with us saying, “A Hiker might not be the right solution for you.”
With Super Pacific, we have another answer.
For some people, that answer will still be a Hiker. For others, it might be an X1. And for some families and adventurers, it might be both.
We’re not changing direction. We’re expanding the number of directions we can help our customers go.
That fit is also why we’re so excited about who we’re partnering with.
At Hiker, we’ve spent years building trailers around a straightforward philosophy: getting outside shouldn’t have to be complicated. We value thoughtful design, durable construction, practical features, and products built to actually be used.
As our teams got to know each other, it became clear that Super Pacific approaches its products and customers in much the same way.
The X1 has earned a strong reputation as a thoughtfully engineered, lightweight truck camper built around real-world use. Super Pacific will continue to lead the design and evolution of the X1, while our team in Columbus helps expand its manufacturing, installation, and customer support footprint farther east.
Until now, getting a Super Pacific camper in the eastern half of the country often meant coordinating a trip west or dealing with the cost and logistics of shipping a camper a long way from Super Pacific’s home in the Pacific Northwest.
Our Columbus facility will help change that.
Once production begins, customers east of the Rocky Mountains will be able to order a new Super Pacific X1 and pick it up at Super Pacific East at Hiker Trailers without camper shipping costs.
Over time, Super Pacific also plans to expand installation options throughout the Midwest, New England, Southeast, and Texas, along with more competitive shipping options for customers in those regions.
And while the manufacturing footprint is expanding, the X1 itself isn’t changing.
Same camper. Same warranty. Same customer support. Now built closer to home.
Super Pacific will continue manufacturing and serving customers from its West Coast operations, while Hiker becomes an extension of that team here in the Midwest.
We anticipate X1 production and installations beginning in Columbus, Indiana this fall, although an exact launch date has not yet been set.
There’s still plenty happening behind the scenes, and we’ll be sharing more about availability, ordering, installations, and preorders in the coming weeks.
For Hiker, this partnership doesn’t change our belief in the camping experience our trailers provide. It builds on it.
It gives our customers more choices, gives Super Pacific customers a new home in the Midwest, and gives both of our teams an opportunity to help more people find a camping setup that fits their family, their vehicle, and the way they want to explore.
We think that’s something worth getting excited about.
